Artist's Comments

After hearing the rumours of a new Nightmare on Elm Street, I got inspired and got to work on what Freddy might look like... according to me. Take away the one-liners & puns, make him look truly horrific and scarred. Nothing against Robert Englund, either ( otherwise, the hardcore fans would have my head on a stick)... just thought it would be fun.

Taking into account how many times this guy has been torched, impaled, and sent to Hell, I'd say this is a pretty good rendering of how he should be looking by now...I mean, if Chucky kept coming back, looking more tore up each time, then it only makes sense that Freddy would, too.
Not to mention, this is totally bad-ass.

Thanks for the kind words and the fave. :)
Freddy's always been one of my fave horror icons ( Pinhead's at the top of the list) and other than the first ELM STREET and NEW NIGHTMARE, he's always been played for laughs. He should be utterly terrifying, so this was just my crack at it.

If he actually were terrifying in the movies, I might not mind him coming back an infinite number of times. =P I think you did a great job, and the writers should be checking this out for inspiration.

Well, thanks again.
I might tackle Jason next...maybe even Pinhead if I feel really ambitious.
You're gonna give me an ego, what with all the compliments and stuff.

Looks like two-face from The Dark Knight....but I think it works.

LOVE is suicide.

Two-Face was a definite influence. I just figure if Krueger was on the receiving end of a gasoline fire, than Harvey Dent's mug was a good starting point. That, and it makes Freddy a bit more menacing.

Freddy's been my favorite since I was a little little kid. Personally I think he's scarier than most of the other big horror icons on the fact that he really prays upon your individual fears, and he can get you anywhere, because everyone needs to sleep. Where as say Jason or Leatherface really only screw with you if you go messin around their backyards. (eventhough I realize Freddy has big ties to Elm Street) I'm a huge slasher fan, but the Elmstreet series just has more substance, plot, continity of an actual storyline, lol. PLus I know the inspiration behind this Wes Craven creation and all that so... yeah, I find him most interesting.

Wow, that was much more of a comment than I intended.. your rendition is different but it definately capures some of those scary attributes that make him such a legend.

* On a side note- I actually met Robert Englund and got his autograph and everything. I even have a picture with him. Surprisingly enough he is one of the most intelligent and kindest people you could meet. He was very cool. :D

Thanks for all of the above, pyro. You must have heard about the ELM STREET remake coming up? Jackie Earle Haley ( Rohrshach from WATCHMEN ) is the new Freddy, so at least it's off to a good start.

And you should post that pic with Englund, cuz that's frickin' awesome!
